YouTube TV Secures New Deal to Retain Paramount Content, Expanding Streaming Partnership

After concerns that Paramount content might disappear from YouTube TV, Google and Paramount have successfully reached an agreement to ensure uninterrupted access to popular channels.

While specific terms of the deal remain undisclosed, a Paramount spokesperson revealed that the agreement includes an “expanded streaming relationship.” This means YouTube Primetime Channels will continue to offer Paramount+ with Showtime and BET+ as add-ons. Additionally, YouTube TV gains the right to provide Paramount+ access to eligible subscribers.

Google, which has faced similar contract disputes with media giants like Disney, expressed satisfaction with the deal, stating, “We’re happy to share that we’ve reached a deal to continue carrying Paramount channels, including CBS, CBS Sports, Nickelodeon, and more … To our subscribers, we appreciate your patience while we negotiated on your behalf.”

Earlier, Google had warned that Paramount content would be removed from YouTube TV on February 13, but a short-term extension allowed negotiations to continue. Google maintained that it was fighting for an agreement that would prevent increased costs for subscribers while providing greater flexibility in how they access content.

Paramount co-CEOs George Cheeks, Chris McCarthy, and Brian Robbins had previously accused Google of being unwilling to accept fair market terms, stating in an internal memo that “you can’t have a successful video product without Paramount, one of the leading media families in TV viewing.”

Despite the tensions, the new agreement ensures that Paramount’s extensive content lineup remains available to YouTube TV subscribers, solidifying its position as a leading streaming platform.
