Millie, a California-based maternity clinic founded by Anu Sharma, has successfully raised $12 million in a Series A funding round. The investment comes from notable female-led firms, including RH Capital, TMV, and Melinda French Gates’ Pivotal Ventures.

Sharma was inspired to establish Millie following her own pregnancy experience in 2019. After facing complications that were overlooked by medical professionals, she sought to create the kind of maternity care clinic she wished had been available to her.

Launched in 2022, Millie provides comprehensive maternity and gynecology care, including postpartum coaching, mental health support, and nutritional counseling. The clinic operates with a hybrid care model that integrates in-person visits with virtual consultations, remote monitoring, and a proprietary app for patient support. It also collaborates with all major insurance providers.

“What makes Millie unique is our hybrid model, which combines in-person care at our clinics with virtual visits, remote monitoring, and a proprietary app,” Sharma told TechCrunch. “We do this with a capital-efficient model, increasingly powered by AI-enabled workflows, in collaboration with payors and health system partners.”

With nearly $19 million raised to date, Millie plans to use the latest funding to expand its physical presence across California, enhance its technology-driven services, and strengthen its network of healthcare partners. The company joins other emerging players in the maternity care space, such as Quilted Health and Oula, as it seeks to redefine maternal healthcare with a modern, tech-powered approach.
