The Bot Company, a robotics startup founded by former Cruise co-founder and CEO Kyle Vogt, has raised $150 million in a new funding round led by Greenoaks, according to a report by Reuters.

  • A Fast-Growing Robotics Venture
  • Vogt’s Transition from Cruise to Robotics

Vogt co-founded the startup with Paril Jain, who previously led Tesla’s AI tech team, and Luke Holoubek, a former software engineer at Cruise. Vogt has not responded to requests for comment.

A Fast-Growing Robotics Venture

The new funding comes less than a year after The Bot Company was launched in May 2024. The company is developing a robot focused on household chores and initially secured $150 million in investments from notable backers, including:

  • Nat Friedman, former GitHub CEO
  • Daniel Gross, founder of Pioneer
  • Nabeel Hyatt, general partner at Spark Capital
  • Patrick Collison, CEO of Stripe
  • John Collison, co-founder of Stripe
  • Quiet Capital

Vogt’s Transition from Cruise to Robotics

The launch of The Bot Company came about five months after Vogt resigned as CEO of Cruise, the autonomous vehicle startup he founded in 2013, which was later acquired by General Motors. His resignation followed an October 2 incident in which a Cruise vehicle ran over and dragged a pedestrian 20 feet after the individual had been struck by a human-driven car.
