Sarvam AI, the Indian startup that recently drew global attention for outperforming ChatGPT and Google Gemini in key benchmarks, has officially announced its entry into the hardware market.
During the India AI Impact Summit, founder Pratyush Kumar revealed the company’s plans to launch AI-powered smartglasses called Sarvam Kaze. In a milestone moment for the country’s tech sector, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the first person to try the device, signaling strong symbolic backing for this homegrown innovation.

What is Sarvam Kaze?
Sarvam Kaze aims to shift artificial intelligence from screens into real-world interactions. Designed and built entirely in India, these glasses mark the company’s strategic move into wearable AI devices.
According to the company, the device will run on Sarvam’s in-house AI models and is designed to:
- Listen to user commands and ambient sounds.
- Understand context in real-time.
- Respond via audio feedback.
- Capture what users see to provide visual intelligence.
A teaser shared on X (formerly Twitter) shows the glasses featuring a design similar to Meta Ray-Ban styles, complete with visible camera placements.
A “Made in India” Milestone
Founder Pratyush Kumar emphasized that Sarvam Kaze is a step toward bringing Sarvam’s AI models directly into users’ hands through its own proprietary hardware. By positioning Kaze as potentially India’s first indigenous AI-powered hardware product, the company is staking a claim in a market currently dominated by global giants.
The launch is scheduled for May 2026, placing Sarvam as an early Indian contender in the fast-growing wearable AI category.
The Growing Smartglasses Market
Sarvam’s move comes as smartglasses gain significant traction globally. Companies like Meta have reportedly sold millions of units, and Apple is expected to enter the segment in the near future.
By allowing developers to create custom experiences through the Sarvam platform, the Kaze glasses aim to offer a localized, versatile alternative to Western competitors.
