Amazon Updates Q Business to Enable Public-Facing Chatbots

Amazon has introduced a new feature in its Q Business assistant, allowing companies to build public-facing chatbots. The update, announced on Wednesday, enables anonymous user access for the AWS-hosted AI assistant. This means businesses can now create chatbots for websites, support portals, and more, where users can interact without needing to authenticate themselves.

The new feature allows companies to build Q Business chatbots that help customers search documentation, troubleshoot issues, and complete self-service tasks without requiring any login. Amazon explains that this feature lets users find product information, get technical answers, and navigate documentation quickly and easily.

Companies using Q Business can configure the chatbot to process support documents and tailor responses based on that content. These chatbots are billed based on usage.

Since its launch two years ago, Q Business has been enhanced with more advanced features, including the ability to perform tasks on behalf of users across third-party applications.

Amazon continues to focus on AI as a key part of its growth strategy. CEO Andy Jassy recently highlighted that Amazon is developing over 1,000 generative AI applications, with AI revenue growing rapidly and reaching a multi-billion-dollar annual run rate.
