Mumbai Surpasses Delhi as India’s Most Forgetful City in Uber Rides: Unusual Items Left Behind

In a surprising development, Mumbai has overtaken Delhi to become India’s most forgetful city, according to Uber’s 9th Annual Lost and Found Index. This annual report ranks cities based on the frequency of items left behind in Uber rides. While Delhi slipped to second place, Pune climbed to third. On the other end, Hyderabad emerged as the most mindful metro, recording the fewest reports of lost items.

Common items like Phone, wallets, and earphones topped the list of forgotten belongings. However, 2024 also saw a range of bizarre items left behind, including a gold biscuit, a wedding saree, 25kg of cow ghee, a cooking stove, and even a Hawan Kund (a sacred fire altar used in Hindu rituals).

Other unusual items reported were a telescope, a bansuri (flute), an ultrasonic dog bark controller, and a hair wig. Fortunately, Uber’s tracking features make recovering such items more manageable than traditional taxis.

With cities like Mumbai leading in forgetfulness, it’s evident that every Uber ride might have a story—or an abandoned gold biscuit—waiting to be discovered.
