In a recent interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press,” former President Donald Trump expressed his willingness to delay the ban on TikTok once again if a deal to sell its U.S. operations isn’t finalized before the June 19 deadline. This marks the third time that Trump has indicated a delay for the app’s potential ban.
Trump, who has already granted two extensions to TikTok in the past, shared his personal sentiment, saying, “Perhaps I shouldn’t say this, but I have a little warm spot in my heart for TikTok.” Despite the looming deadline, Trump hinted that he would be open to granting another extension if a resolution was not reached in time.

The law passed by Congress last year mandates that TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, sell its U.S. operations, or face a ban. Initially, TikTok was taken down in January when the ban went into effect, but Trump intervened with a 90-day reprieve. As the next deadline approached, he extended the timeline by another 75 days, citing concerns over the Chinese government’s dissatisfaction with U.S. Reciprocal Tariffs as a key reason for the delay.
With the June 19 deadline quickly approaching, the fate of TikTok’s U.S. operations remains uncertain, and a potential extension could buy more time for negotiations between the company, U.S. authorities, and its Chinese parent company.
